HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-133 .doc APRIL 11, 2006 06-133RESOLUTION (CARRIED__7-0___ LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE:AUTHORIZE POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANTS INITIATED BY:OSHKOSH POLICE DEPARTMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council for the City of Oshkosh that the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to apply for grants from the Federal Government administered through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for: (a) Youth Alcohol Enforcement Project-Comprehensive Alcohol Risk reDuction (CARD) - $8000.00 to develop community support and partnerships for traffic enforcement efforts, deter underage alcohol procurement and drinking and will help to decrease the occurrences of underage drinking and driving. (b) Click it-Why Risk it? 2006 - $4,000, the objective to increase the percentage of vehicle occupants wearing safety belts, adopting a zero tolerance policy for unrestrained occupants during all motor vehicle stops. (c) Pedestrian Safety Enforcement 2006 - $2,000 to help decrease pedestrian crashes and pedestrian deaths and / or incapacitating injuries. (d) Bicycle Safety Enforcement - $2,000, supports enhanced traffic enforcement activity that will contribute to the decrease in number of bicycle crashes that result in injuries. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all documents required by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for purposes of the same, and are further authorized and directed, if said grant is awarded, to accept such funds, pursuant to the terms of the grant application.
