One of the exits shall discharge to grade. The second exit can be an xterior balcony or discharge into an attached garage provided with an exit door which discharges to grade. All exits on the upper level must comply with the provisions of this code. The exit on the upper southeast comer must comply, or be permanantly eliminated from use. See page 8 of the photos. A fire protective membrane f one layer of 5/8-inch Type X gypsum wallboard shall be provided on the ceiling beneath the floor construction of the upper ccupancy to provide the separation. Walls in the dwelling unit separation shall be protected by not less than one layer of 1/2-inch gypsum wallboard or equivalent on each side of the wall.
