RE: 4525 Cedar View Dr., Non-Compliant Shower Module
Dear Mr. Darren Thomas,
The Final Plumbing Inspection at 4525 Cedar View Dr. on February 3rd, 2006 revealed code violations to
be colTected. As a result, a ColTection Notice was issued to you and your general contractor, Gary Garbe.
One ofthe violations noted during this inspection is that the shower module located in the basement
bathroom did not meet the minimum code requirements per Wisconsin State Plumbing Code, Comm
84.20( 5)(L) 4. The shower shall have a minimum finished interior area of 900 square inches and shall be
capable of encompassing a circle with a diameter of 30 inches. The minimum required area shall be
measured in a horizontal plane 24 inches above the top of the threshold and may not extend beyond the
centerline of the threshold. The minimum area and dimension shall be maintained to a point 70 inches
above the shower waste outlet with no protrusions other than the fixture valve, showerhead, soap dish,
retractable seat and safety rails.
This code violation must be colTected within 30 days or a penalty may be issued per Oshkosh Municipal
Code Section 20-13. A Final Plumbing Re- Inspection will not be conducted until colTections have been
completed. The options of compliance include removing the shower module, installing a compliant
shower stall or securing a variance from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Safety and Buildings
Division to allow the installed shower module. Enclosed is the Application for Variance Form along with
another copy of the Field ColTection Notice that was issued to you and Mr. Garbe in person on February
3rd, 2006.
Sincerely,
Paul Wolf
