mc 711.3 Any penetrations of fire rated assemblies are required to be protected with a listed firestopping
system that matches the rating of the wall assembly being penetrated. Copies ofthefirestopping systems
are required to be provided at the time ofinspection.
712.1 Fire-Resistant Joint Systems General. Joints installed in or between fire-resistance- rated walls,
floor or floor/ceiling assemblies and roofs or roof/ceiling assemblies shall be protected by an approved fire-
resistant joint system designed to resist the passage of fire for a time period not less than the required fire-
resistance rating of the wall, floor or roof in or between which it is installed. Fire-resistant joint systems
shall be tested in accordance with Section 712.3. Provide copies of tested/listed head ofwallfirestop
detail- Detail 5A on sheet A5.2 does not include listed head of wall joint assembly number.
IBC 901.2 Fire protection systems shall be installed, repaired, operated and maintained in accordance with
this code and the international fire code. (Construction of new walls may require the addition and or
relocation of sprinkler heads to maintain required coverage, and not obstruct spray patterns of fire
sprinklers)

mc 1004.3.2.1 Construction Corridors (the rear egress path through the "hallway" and "exit
Corridor" is considered a corridor.) shall be fire-resistance rated in accordance with Table 1004.3.2.1.
The corridor waHs required to be fire-resistance-rated shall comply with Section 708 for fire partitions.
Table 1004.3.2.1 Exception c. Buildings equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system
in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 or 903.3.1.2. This will require the monitorinfi and alarms per
Section 903.4 this includes ALL valves controllinf! water suvvlv.
1004.3.2.4 Air movement in corridors. Corridors shaH not serve as supply, return, exhaust, relief or
ventilation air ducts or plenums.
Exceptions:
2. Use of the space between the corridor ceiling and the floor or roof structure above as a return air
plenum is permitted for one or more of the foHowing conditions:
2.3. - The air-handling system serving the corridor is shut down upon activation ofthe air-handling unit

COMM 62.1109 (12) Where counters are provided for sales or distribution of goods or services, at least

IMC 302.1 The building or structure shall not be weakened by the iostallation of mechanical systems.
VerifY that existing structure is capable of supporting the additional weight of the proposed rooftop
equipment. The designer of record is responsible to verifY that loads have been transferred properly. If
upon inspection there is still a question, calculations may be required.
IMC 304.1 Equipment and appliances shaH be instaHed as required by the terms of their approval, in
accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufacture's instructions and this code. Caution on
clearance requirements for unit heater in storage room.
IMC 401.5.1 Mechanical and gravity outside air intake openiogs shaH be located a minimum of 10 feet
from any hazardous or noxious contaminant such as vents, chimneys, plumbing vents, streets, alleys,
parking l.ots and loading docks.
IMC 405.1 Mechanical ventilation systems shaH be provided with manual or automatic controls that win
operate such systems whenever the spaces are occupied. Air conditioning systems that supply required
ventilation air shaH be provided with controls designed to automaticaHy maintain the required outdoor air
supply rate during occupancy.
602.2.1 Materials exposed within plenums. Except as required by Sections 602.2.1.1 through 602.2.1.4,
materials exposed within plenums shaH be noncombustible or shall have a flame spread index of not more
than 25 and a smoke-developed index of not more than 50 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84.
602.2.1.4 Combustible electrical equipment. Combustible electrical equipment exposed within a plenum
shaH have a peak rate of heat release not greater than 100 kilowatts, a peak optical density not greater than
0.50, and an average optical density not greater than 0.15 when tested in accordance with UL 2043.
Combustible electrical equipment shaH be listed and labeled. (Caution on speakers and components
located above ceiling)

IMC 606.2.1 Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater than
2000 cfm IMC 606.4.1 The sm.oke detect.ors shall be connected to a fire alann system. The actuation of a
smoke detector shall activate a visible and audible supervisory signal at a constantly attended location.
IMC 606.4.1 Exception 2. In occupancies not required to 'be equipped with a fire alann system, actuation
of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and an audible signal in an approved location. Smoke detector
trouble conditions shall activate a visible or audible signal in an approved location and shall be identifies
as air duct detector trouble.
Comm 61.31(4) Revisions to approved plans. All proposed revisions and modifications which involve
rules under this code and which are made to construction documents that have previously been granted
approval by the department or its authorized representative, shall be submitted to the office that granted the
approval. All revisions and modifications to plans shall be approved in writing by the department or its
authorized representative prior to the work involved in the revision or modification being carried out. A
revision or modification to a plan, drawing or specification shall be signed and sealed in accordance with
Comm 61.31(1).
MUN 30-35 (1)(5) All rooftop and ground level mechanical equipment and utilities shall be fully screened
from view of any street or residential zoning district. Contact David Buck - Associate planner (920) 236-
5062 for additional information on screening requirements. All screening shall be properly anchored in
place to resist wind loads. Additionally!BC 1608.8 Roofprojections - Drift loads due to mechanical
equipment, penthouses, parapets and other projections above the roof shall be determined in accordance
with Section 7.8 of ASCE 7. (Screening will not be required for replacement unit of the same size and
location. New or relocated equipment will require a screening plan. Additionally there may be
screening requirements for the Satellite Mounting System shown on sheet E3.0.)
SUBMIT:
IFC 901.4 Fire protection systems shall be maintained in accordance with the original installation
standards for that system. Required fire protection systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented as
necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to.
Alterations to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards. Submit plans
for fire sprinkler modifications.
. mc 1003.2.11 Means of egress illumination is required to be installed per this section. All paths of egress
through The Retail Display area are required to have adequate emergency lighting to meet the performance
requirements ofIBC 1003.2.11.3. Provide complete emergency lighting plan (Point to Point
Illumination plan) -showing compliance with these requirements prior to installation of emergency
lighting system. Additionally emergency illumination is required to be installed on the exterior side of
all new or relocated exit doors. It would appear based on the plan provided the emergency lighting in
the stock room will not meet the light level requirements.
IECC 503.3.3.7 [Comm 63.0503(2)(f)] Balancing and documentation ofthe HV AC system shall conform
to the !MC. Balancing report required to be submitted prior to final occupancy being allowed.
. Comm 61.50 (4) Supervision. Prior to the initial occupancy of an alteration the supervising professional
shall file a compliance statement form SBD-9720 with this office.

A copy of the approved plans, specifications, and this letter shall be on-site during construction. All permits are required to
be obtained prior to commencement of work.
In grantiog this approval the City of Oshkosh Inspection Services Departroent reserves the right to require changes or
additions should conditions arise making them necessary for code compliance. As per state stats 101.12(2), nothing in this
review shall relieve the designer of the responsibility for designing a safe building, structure, or component.
