HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-02.doc JANUARY 10, 2006 06-02 RESOLUTION (APPROVED_7-0__LOST______LAID OVER______WITHDRAWN______) PURPOSE:DETERMINATION OF NECESSITY TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY / 552 MADISON STREET INITIATED BY:DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approved WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Oshkosh to acquire property where appropriate in order to eliminate blighting conditions; and WHEREAS, one of the priority elements of the approved Comprehensive Plan is the implementation of neighborhood improvement strategies; and WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Oshkosh proposes to acquire property outside of an approved redevelopment area at 552 Madison Street, as described below, clear the site and resell the substandard lot to the adjacent property owner. 552 Madison Street; Jerold Hebert, etal, owners S 22 ft. of Lot 7, Block 89, Leach's Map, 4th Ward, City of Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. (tax #904-0282-0000) NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that a comprehensive redevelopment plan is not necessary to determine the need for acquisition of blighted property or future uses of said property, and acquisition of the above described property will support ongoing redevelopment efforts throughout the community and contribute to improving the immediate neighborhood. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council certifies that in order for said purpose to be accomplished, it is necessary for the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Oshkosh to acquire the property described above. It is further determined by the Common Council that acquisition of said property is hereby determined necessary pursuant to the provisions of Section 32.07, Section 66.43 and Section 66.46 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
