Dear Nr. Frey:
This is to summarize my inspection with you of the rooming house known as 531
Jackson Street on October 16, 1980. The items listed in my letter to Paul
Redemann and Company on May 30, 1980 are still valid; there has be"n no change
in the building from that time, except the grass, weeds, and brush have grown
up and should be properly maintained. One other item I failed to note before
is that the upper portion of the stairway to the basement has no handrail. A
handrail shall be installed.
At the time of the conversion of this building to a rooming house, the Department
of Industry, Labor and Human Relations specified that the basement is restricted
for the purposes of maintenance only, and tbat the door leading to the basement
stainvay shall be kept locked and the key kept under management control.
If you -n.sh to convert the south sun room into a sleeping room(s) you must first
obtain a building permit from the Oshkosh Building Inspector.
The rooming houst' shall be occupied by no more than t"",nty persons. Before
renting H for occupancy you must apply for and obtain a rooming house license.
I have enclosed an application form. Please fill it out and return it to me
together ,;it, the fee of $10.00 before you start renting out.
If you bave any questions or comments, feel free to call me at 424-0375.
Very truly yours,
Richard R. Mattheis
