Re: 555 Division 81. Fire Damage
Larson Project #: 31050276.000
Dear Allyn:
At the request of Matt Everett of Paul Davis Restoration, I inspected fire damage at 555 Division
Street, to determine if the remainder of the building could be re-occupied by the adjoining tenants.
The fire was contained primarily in one unit, but the fire had crossed the fire wall via a continuous
roof vent. The fire then spread along the top of the adjoining attic area, to approximately 15 to 20 feet
from the fire wall.
2 trusses were damaged by the fire and will need to be repaired or replaced, while the remaining
trusses will require a more detailed inspection during repairs to determine their condition.
The structural condition of the adjoining building (across the fire wall from the fire) is in acceptable
condition to occupy by the tenants, and poses no risk to the occupants at this time. Even though the
trusses have sustained damage, there is sufficient redundancy in the roof structure to maintain the
integrity of the building during the summer months when roof loads are at a minimum. I see no
reason at this time to restrict access to this part of the building.
Since repairs are proceeding immediately, the contractor will be on site, and additional safety issues
will be addressed on an as needed basis, per normal construction practice.
Please contact me if you require further assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
