Key Item(s) I Conditions:
.
IMC 304.1 Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval, in
accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufactures instructions and this code. Manufacture's
specifications and listing require the Southern Pride smoker to be installed under a vent hood. THIS
HOOD IS REOUIRED TO BE USED AT ALL TIME THE SMOKER IS BEING OPERATED! Plan
submittal indicates that the smoker would be vented independently and the hood only used when
loading and unloading the smoker - THIS IS NOT PERMITTED - unless additional listing
documanetaion is provided that indicates the listing of the product will allow for this. Additionally the
proposed venting of the smoker using a 2 inch stainless steel vent must be installed per the listing and
installation instructions.

from any hazardous or noxious contaminant such as vents, chimneys, plumbing vents, streets, alleys,
parking lots and loading docks.
IMC 506.3.9 Clean outs and other openings. Grease duct systems shall not have openings therein other
than those required for proper operation and maintenance of the system. Any portion of such system
having sections not provided with access from the duct entry or discharge shall be provided with cleanout
openings. Cleanout openings shall be equipped with tight-fitting doors constructed of steel having a
thickness not less than that required for the duct. Doors shall be eqnipped with a substantial method of
latching, snfficient to hold the door tightly closed. Doors shall be designed so that they are operable
without the nse of a tool. Door assemblies, including any frames and gasketing, shall be approved
for the purpose, and shall not have fasteners that penetrate the duct. Listed and labeled access door

not more than 20 feet (6096 mm) apart. The c1eanouts shall be located on the side of the duct with the
opening not less than 1.5 inches (38 mm) above the bottom of the duct, and not less than 1 inch (25 mm)
beJow the top of the duct. The opening minimum dimensions shall be 12 inches (305 mm) on each side.
Where the dimensions ofthe side ofthe duct prohibit the cleanout installation prescribed herein, the
openings shall be on the top of the duct or the bottom of the duct. Where located on the top of the duct, the
opening edges shall be a minimum of I inch (25 mm) from the edges of the duct. Where located in the
bottom of the duct, cleanout openings shall be designed to provide internal damming around the opening,
