The submittal described above has been reviewed for conformance with applicable Wisconsin Adrninisttative Codes and
Wisconsin Statutes. The submittal has been CONDITIONALLY APPROVED. The owner, as defined in Chapter
101.01(10), Wisconsin Statutes, is responsible for compliance with all code requirements

IMC 304.1 Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval, in
accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufactures instructions and this code. Manufacture's
specifications and listing require the Southern Pride smoker to be installed under a vent hood. THIS
HOOD IS REOUIRED TO BE USED AT ALL TIME THE SMOKER IS BEING OPERATED! Plan
submittal indicates that the smoker would be vented independently and the hood only used when
loading and unloading the smoker - THIS IS NOT PERMITTED - unless additional listing
documanetaion is provided that indicates the listing of the product will allow for this. Additionally the
proposed venting of the smoker using a 2 inch stainless steel vent must be installed per the listing and
installation instructions.
IMC 401.5.1 Mechanical and gravity outside air intake openings shall be located a minimum of 10 feet
from any hazardous or noxious contaminant such as vents, chimneys, plumbing vents, streets, alleys,
parking lots and loading docks.
IMC 506.3.9 Cleanouts and other openings. Grease duct systems shall not have openings therein other
than those required for proper operation and maintenance of the system. Any portion of such system
having sections not provided with access from the duct entry or discharge shall be provided with cleanout
openings. Cleanout openings shall be equipped with tight-fitting doors constructed of steel having a
thickness not less than that required for the duct. Doors shall be equipped with a substantial method of
latching, sufficient to hold the door tightly closed. Doors shall be designed so that they are operable
without the use of a tool. Door assemblies, including any fraines and gasketing, shall be approved
for the purpose, and shall not have fasteners that penetrate the duct. Listed and labeled access door
assemblies shall be installed in accordance with the terms of the listing.

IMC 506.3.10 Horizontal cleanouts. Cleanouts located on horizontal sections of ducts shall be spaced
not more than 20 feet (6096 mm) apart. The cleanouts shall be 'located on the side of the duct with the
opening not less than 1.5 inches (38 mm) above the bottom of the duct, and not less than I inch (25 mm)
below the top of the duct. The opening minimum dimensions shall be 12 inches (305 mm) on each side.
Where the dimensions of the side of the duct prohibit the cleanout installation prescribed herein, the
openings shall be on the top of the duct or the bottom of the duct. Where located on the top of the duct, the
opening edges shall be a minimum of 1 inch (25 mm) from the edges of the duct. Where located in the
bottom of the duct, cleanout openings shall be designed to provide internal damming around the opening,
shall be provided with gasketing to preclude grease leakage, shall provide for drainage of grease down the
duct around the dam, and shall be approved for the application. Where the dimensions of the sides. top or
bottom of the duct preclude the installation of the prescribed minimum-size cleanout opening. the cleanout
shall be located on the duct face that affords the largest opening dimension and shall be installed with the
opening edges at the prescribed distances from the duct edges as previouslv set forth in this section.
IMC 506.3.13.3 Termination location. Exhaust outlets shall be located not less than 10 feet (3048 mm)
horizontally from parts of the same or contiguous buildings, adjacent property lines and air intake openings
into any building and shall be located not less than 10 feet (3048 mm) above the adjoining grade level. As
indicated in plan submittal this will require closing some existing windows.
IMC 507.9 A type I hood shall be installed with a clearance to combustibles of not less than 18 inches.
Exception: Clearance shall not be requiredfrom gypsum wallboard attached to noncombustible
structures provided that a smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material is installed
between the hood an the gypsum wall-board over an area extending not less than 18 inches in all
directions from the hood.
As per plan a wall constructed of steel studs with gypsum board and stainless steel covering will be
installed behind the hood.
IMC 507.12 The inside lower edge of canopy-type commercial cooking hoods shall overhang or extend a
horizontal distance of not less than 6 inches beyond the edge of the cooking surface.
IMC 509.1 An approved automatic fire suppression system complying with the mc and IFC is required
for this hood installation.
IBC 904.11.2 System Interconnection The Interconnection of the fire suppression system shall
automatically shut down the fuel or electrical power supply to the cooking equipment. The fuel and
electrical supply reset shall be manual.
Comm 61.31(4) Revisions to approved plans. All proposed revisions and modifications which involve
rules under this code and which are made to construction documents that have previously been granted
approval by the department or its authorized representative, shall be submitted to the office that granted the
approval. All revisions and modifications to plans shall be approved in writing by the department or its
authorized representative prior to the work involved in the revision or modification being carried out. A
revision or modification to a plan, drawing or specification shall be signed and sealed in accordance with
Comm61.31(1).
MUN 30-35 (1)(5) mechanical equipment and utilities shall be fully screened from view of any street or
residential zoning district. EF-l Exhuast unit is required to be painted to match the building - Contact

IEce 503.3.3.7 [Comm 63.0503(2)(1)] Balancing and documentation of the HV AC system shall conform
to the IMC. Balancing report required to be submitted prior to final occupancy being allowed.
. Comm 61.50 (4) Supervision. Prior to the initial occupancy of an alteration the supervising professional
shall file a compliance statement form SBD-9720 with this office.
A copy of the approved plans, specifications, and this letter shall be on-site during construction. All permits are required to
be obtained prior to commencement of work.
In granting this approval the City of Oshkosh Inspection Services Department reserves the right to require changes or
additions should conditions arise making them necessary for code compliance. As per state stats 101.12(2), nothing in this
review shall relieve the designer of the responsibility for designing a safe building, structure, or component.
