HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.08.26 Newsletter : TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Rebecca Grill, City Manager DATE: May 8, 2026 RE: Weekly Newsletter Prep Work for Menominee Park Train Begins Next Week Beginning mid-week of May 11, 2026, Public Works Operations crews will start construction work at Menominee Park in the area of the tennis courts. Work will include removing a section of newly installed concrete sidewalk and installing a new asphalt path to properly align a path for the new train route. While removing recently completed work is not ideal, this step is the best long-term solution to properly align the route and support safe, reliable operation of the new train. Making the adjustments now will help prevent larger issues later, reduce the need for future modifications, and provide a better overall experience for riders and families visiting the park. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as this work gets underway and as we continue making progress on this important park improvement. OPD Introduces the Dog Walker Watch Program As part of a new crime prevention initiative, Crime Prevention/Public Affairs Officer Kate Mann will be introducing a new program, The Dog Walker Watch program, on Monday, May 11, during the Neighborhood Alliance meeting. The Dog Walker Watch program encourages citizens to be an extra set of eyes and ears for law enforcement (adding Natural Surveillance to various areas). This proactive program focuses on training citizens to effectively observe and then report suspicious behaviors in their neighborhoods, helping to deter and prevent criminal behavior. This initiative works to enhance the positive partnership between law enforcement and the citizens of our community. If you would like to learn more about this new program, please visit the National Night Out website.
