Call to Order Chair Margy Davey called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and quorum was declared present. II. Public Comment Ms. Davey asked if there were public comments. No public comments occurred. III. Approval of Minutes, March 2, 2026 Mr. Spanbauer motioned to approve the minutes. Mr. Klaameyer seconded the motion. The board approved the March 2, 2026 minutes 7-0 (Spanbauer/Klaameyer). IV. Sustainable Activities and Events Mr. Klaameyer, Mr. Spanbauer, and Ms. Reinke shared several upcoming community events. The Community Partner Fair will be held on April 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sunnyview Expo Center and will feature a variety of community organizations from throughout Winnebago County. The Growing Together: Indigenous Plant Knowledge event will take place on April 13 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the basement of Swart Hall on the UW-Oshkosh campus. On April 14, the Recycle Right event will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Oshkosh Public Library, and a planning meeting for the Midwest Crane Count will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Oshkosh Food Co-op Community Room. An Arbor Day celebration will be held on April 16 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at William Waters Plaza and will include a tree planting and a presentation by City Forester Travis Derks. On April 18, In the Woods with Chemistry will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oshkosh Public Library. Free School will also be held that day from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Sage Hall on the UW- Oshkosh campus, with a fruit tree grafting workshop and scion wood exchange taking place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A free basic hand sewing class will be held on April 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Oshkosh Tool Library. The Earth Day Sustainability Fair will be held on April 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Reeve Memorial Union. On April 24, a kindergarten class from Shapiro STEM Academy will participate in a tree planting at Quarry Park at 10:00 a.m., and Oshkosh North High School Communities students will host an Arbor Day event at Akan Acres later that afternoon. A Repair Café will be held on April 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Oshkosh Tool Library. On April 26, Urban Ecology Oshkosh will host a BioBlitz at 9:00 a.m. at the Winnebago County Park Pavilion. A Growing Our Gardens event will also be held that day at 2:00 p.m. at the Oshkosh Tool Library and will focus on starting seedlings and building container gardens. The Fox-Wolf Watershed Cleanup will be held on May 2 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Several Oshkosh cleanup sites still need volunteers, including 24th Avenue and Fugleberg boat launches, Menominee Park, Rainbow Park, Butte des Morts Riverwalk Trail, Riverwalk, and Red Arrow Park. V. Forestry Plans Ms. Dziengeleski said that the March Advisory Parks Board meeting was cancelled. As a reminder, that meeting was when the consultant was scheduled to give a presentation on the new forestry plans. The presentation has now been rescheduled for the May 11 meeting, and she will provide additional information as the date approaches. VI. Sustainability Plan Ms. Dziengeleski reported that she recently met with paleBLUEdot and that baseline data is expected to be provided to staff within the next week or two. She also noted that the deadline to join the Community Input Team had passed, and a follow up email has been sent to individuals who expressed interest in participating. She also reminded the board that the general survey will remain open until the end of April. Ms. Reinke asked for clarification regarding the Sustainability Advisory Board’s participation on the team. Ms. Dziengeleski explained that a few board members had expressed interest and submitted the survey. She noted that participation can be rotated among board members as needed, depending on availability. She added that the SAB members serving on the team would report back to the full board on the topics discussed during those meetings. VII. Summer Farmers Market Ms. Davey asked if a potential theme had been identified for the board’s first Summer Farmers Market date in June. She encouraged the first team to coordinate with staff on potential ideas and themes. Ms. Reinke noted that a reminder may be needed regarding which individuals are scheduled to staff the first date. Ms. Dziengeleski said that she will send a reminder to those individuals. VIII. Agenda Items for Future Meeting Ms. Davey mentioned the Comprehensive Energy Plan. Mr. Klaameyer shared that he would like to discuss bicycles since Bike Week is May 30 to June 6. He also mentioned a potential Native Landscaping informational presentation. Ms. Reinke said she would work on getting a presenter. Mr. Spanbauer asked for continued updates on the plan projects. IX. Next Meeting is Monday, May 4, 2026 X.
