HomeMy WebLinkAbout914 Jackson Street Images Looking Back At 912 Jackson Street A series of photos taken before, during, and after restoration of a front porch (area) during the fall ,winter 2024- spring summer of 2025. Pre-construction photo #1 New Column and removal of the old,new cedar front steps. Old photo of the left of front stairs bases, columns, railing and compressed deck. * metal wrapped skirt is no more. This Photo taken after white oil based primer and railing restoration. This whole corner ( under the 3 columns ) got rebuilt with some substantial treated materials to improve the column bearing points. * roof is now elevated and under temporary support. All of the railing systems were carefully removed and restored at my workshop, and then reinstalled after TLC was completed. It was a blessing that most of the spindles and rails were not decayed. This is 5 of 7 railings after oil based primer, and 1 coat of white durations , waiting to get installed. The long front railing was extended to reach the new circular column. I recreated the top and bottom rails to match the old - and salvaged the spindles. The bevels for the top sill on old growth pine. This longer railing was then added onsite. Pictured is the splice, an almost perfect match. Outside view during install of the long front railing system. Note : the whole skirt and molding piece was added from cedar on the whole perimeter. All of this got oil base primer before install. New extension pieces waiting for install - top sill, bottom railing, crown molding handmade at my shop to match. I am very happy with those re-creations 🙂 Pre demo front stairs. I added 2 extra stringers for the stairs..and hardware : Then rebuilt the treads, risers from cedar . 1 ⅛ cedar treds spaced evenly- preprimed white oil base primer. Manufactured at my shop. The 2 iron railings were sanded and repainted black , and then installed again. I mounted the bottoms into the old concrete 1st step with concrete anchors. I am so happy with this because I didn't want them looking old and rusty when the rest was new . And I was ready for the final coats of white, and the final porch and floor matched blue. Flag holder also got new paint and tlc. How about that bright white sherwin williams satin ! The south side 3 columns, railings and skirt. I got rained out one day while painting. I hope you enjoy the photos- I am thrilled with the result and rebuild of these elements. Some of these photos will go out for promotion on social media. Thank You for watching -
