Q. Where is the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. The Yard Waste Drop off Site is located on the north side of 3rd Avenue between Idaho Street and Ohio Street.
Q. Is there a cost to use the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. YES. Use of the Yard Waste Drop off Site is by permit only. The cost per permit to City of Oshkosh residents is
$25/year. The City resident rate is available only to those residential households serviced by the City of Oshkosh
Sanitation Division. The cost per permit to non-City residents is $125/year, this includes, but is not limited to,
residents of the Townships of Algoma, Black Wolf, Nekimi, Oshkosh and Vinland. Permits may be purchased at
the Collections counter at City Hall or at Kitz and Pfeil Ace Hardware store, downtown Oshkosh. Yard waste from
commercial operations, including tree trimmers, landscapers and apartment buildings, is not permitted at the
site.
Q. What are the hours of operation for the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. The Yard Waste Drop off Site has winter and summer hours of operation.
Winter Hours: December 1st to March 31st
7 am to 3 pm, Monday – Friday
Closed Saturday, Sunday & Holidays
Summer Hours: April 1st to November 30th
11 am to 7 pm, Monday – Friday
10 am to 6 pm, Saturday & Sunday
Closed on Holidays
Q. What can I drop off at the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. The Yard Waste Drop off Site accepts:
Brush, up to 6 ft in length and 6” in
diameter
Grass
Leaves
Apples
Pumpkins
Walnuts
Weeds
Garden debris
Q. What can NOT be dropped off at the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. The Yard Waste Drop off Site does not accept:
Brush larger than 6 feet in length or 6
inches in diameter
Sod
Stumps
Roots
Dirt
Rocks, gravel and concrete
Lumber or other wood
Building materials
Any material classified as garbage
Any material classified as recyclable
Q. Do I have to use a tarp to cover every load?
A. All loads that are transported in an open truck bed or trailer should be secured with a tarp. This includes mulch
taken from the site as well as yard waste material being dropped off.
Q. Can I deliver yard waste from my rental property to the drop off site?
A. NO. Materials delivered to the drop off site must be from your own personal residence. We do not accept
material from any commercial operation which includes tree trimming, landscaping and apartment buildings.
Q. What should I do with my permit if I sell my vehicle? Or I have my windshield replaced?
A. Remove the permit and bring it to the Collection office at City Hall for a replacement permit. The replacement
permit will be issued at no additional cost.
Q. I sold my vehicle without removing the permit. Can I still get a replacement permit?
A. NO. A replacement permit will only be issued if the original permit is returned to the Collection office. To
continue using the drop off site, another permit must be purchased.
Q. I own more than 1 vehicle. Can I transfer the permit between the vehicles?
A. NO. Each permit is registered to one vehicle and must be affixed to that vehicle using the adhesive on the
permit.
Q. Where can I drop off Used Motor Oil?
A. Waste oil may be dropped off at the Yard Waste Drop off Site during regular hours. No permit is required.
Empty motor oil bottles should be bagged and placed in your black garbage cart.
Q. Is mulch available for residents at the Yard Waste Drop off Site?
A. YES. Mulch is available on a self-serve basis during regular Yard Waste Drop off hours. A Drop off Site permit is
not necessary. At limited times, City personnel are available to load mulch into your vehicle. A signed Mulch
Loading Waiver and Release is required prior to loading. Please call the Sanitation office (920) 232-5383 for
availability of mulch and staff.
