HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.13.26 Newsletter : TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Rebecca Grill, City Manager DATE: March 13, 2026 RE: Weekly Newsletter 1. HELP SHAPE OSHKOSH’S RIVERFRONT – CITY CENTER INPUT WANTED: The City of Oshkosh is gathering community input regarding the potential future of the City Center property along our riverfront. The City Center properties, originally built as an urban mall in 1970, are a cornerstone in Downtown Oshkosh. The potential purchase of these properties by the City presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape Oshkosh’s riverfront. The redevelopment of this riverfront parcel is anticipated to build on downtown Oshkosh’s current position as a major regional draw. While discussions continue, we want to hear from residents, businesses, and stakeholders about how this important site could contribute to the future of downtown and the waterfront. Your feedback will help inform ongoing conversations about opportunities for this area. The survey is available through April 12th. 2. APPLICATIONS SOUGHT FOR SUSTAINABILITY ACTION PLAN COMMUNITY INPUT TEAM: The City of Oshkosh is developing a Sustainability Action Plan (SAP). The SAP will establish goals and provide a menu of detailed actions to increase citywide sustainability and resilience while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The plan will be a tool supporting the City of Oshkosh, residents, and businesses in identifying and implementing actions to meet our sustainability goals. We’re forming the Community Input Team to work collaboratively to co-create the City’s plan by exploring, creating, reviewing, refining, and supporting the prioritization of actions to achieve the City’s goals. The Community Input Team will be facilitated by our planning consultant paleBLUEdot and made up of City staff, public agency representatives, and community members like you. No prior experience in sustainability is required—just a passion for making a difference. As a Community Input Team member, you’ll help shape the plan by participating in 4 workshops from April through August 2026. Tasks between meetings may also be needed. Total participation time is estimated to be approximately 3 to 5 hours per month. If you’re 15 or older, we welcome your application! (Those under 18 will need parental consent.) Applications for the Community Input Team should be completed by 11:59pm on Sunday, March 29th. Join us in this important effort to build a more resilient future! 3. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! The City of Oshkosh will be developing a Sustainability Action Plan over the next year. We have launched an online survey to collect input from Oshkosh residents and businesses. This survey is to help us identify perceptions, needs, opportunities, priorities, and issues for the City of Oshkosh to address in the Sustainability Action Plan. Complete the City’s Sustainability Survey by April 30th and help shape our sustainability priorities. Please share the survey with your neighbors, friends, and family. To help us better understand the comments we receive, we ask for you to identify if you live or work in Oshkosh; however, all are welcome to take this survey whether you live or work in the City. 4.
