1) A request to convert 4 parking stalls on the 600 block of N. Main Street from 2-hour to 15-
minute parking (this is a request from the developers of the day care at this location)
The first floor of the building at 660 N. Main Street is being planned as a daycare center with 1st
and 2nd shift hours. The development is trying to facilitate child drop-off and pick-up. These stalls
are currently not heavily used.
I recommend approval.
2) Review of 2025 crash data including top 10 crash intersections
Please see attached documents which we will review and discuss at the meeting. As expected, the
roundabouts have the highest crash frequency which correlates with them having the highest
traffic volume. There are also quite a few rear-end crashes at some of the interchanges to I-41. As a
reminder, WisDot has jurisdiction of the I-41 corridor including the on and off ramps. I will bring
this data to their attention.
Algoma/Wisconsin Street – I evaluated this intersection a bit further by reading the crash reports.
The only notable trend is that 4 of the crashes involved north bound vehicles disobeying red lights.
They all occurred in the middle of the afternoon between 2 - 3 p.m. I will investigate the signal
timing of this intersection further. This intersection, as well as all of the others in this corridor are
actuated by traffic cameras.
Based on this data, the WisDot Community Maps dashboard and the Comprehensive Safety
Action Plan which was prepared and presented about a year ago, pedestrian safety remains a
concern especially at the roundabouts. The data does support the in-progress grant for an I-41
Pedestrian overpass.
