Re: Emergency Lighting
Dear Mr. Mugerauer;
Thank you for taking the time to speak to me about the emergency lighting requirements for your
building. As I indicated during my inspection of your recent addition, your facility should have been
required to provide emergency lighting when the first addition to your building was constructed. Your
building met or exceeded the square footage that triggered the emergency lighting requirement when the
first addition was complete. This code issue was overlooked by this office at that time and surfaced as a
result of the second addition that you recently completed.
You asked me to prepare some correspondence about this so you could discuss it with your electrician.
It is my understanding this was discussed with Mr. Schafer by Kevin Benner, Electrical Inspector and
Mr. Schafer understands that the entire building is required to be provided with emergency lighting. I
would still encourage you to discuss this with Pete to determine how and when this will be provided.
Please keep me advised of your progress to provide the emergency]ighting, including your schedule to
have this installed. If you have any questions, please call me at 236-5045. Thank you for your
understanding of this oversight.
