ITEM 4: Street Right-of-Way Dedication for West Fernau Avenue Located Between
Vinland Street and Jackson Street (STH 76)

Action Requested:
The City of Oshkosh is requesting the acceptance of connecting the public Right-of-Way of West
Fernau Avenue between Vinland Street and Jackson Street (STH 76).
Property Location and Background Information:
The three (3) subject properties are currently vacant and were previously acquired by the City
of Oshkosh. The three (3) properties are situated directly between the existing Vinland Street
Right-of-Way to the west and the existing Jackson Street (STH 76) Right-of-Way to the east.
The extended Right-of-Way will maintain a consistent width of 80’ wide to match the existing
West Fernau Avenue Right-of-Way east of Jackson Street (STH 76).
Analysis:
The extension of the public Right-of-Way between Vinland Street and Jackson Street (STH 76)
will facilitate a much-needed east-west connection between Vinland Street and Jackson Street
(STH 76). With West Fernau Avenue proposed as a truck route after completion, this will create
an alternate east-west truck route between Vinland Street and Jackson Street (STH 76). This will
also improve overall traffic flow for non-truck east-west travel that is currently using Vinland
Street to go to West Snell Road or West Murdock Avenue to get to Jackson Street (STH 76).
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the acceptance of a newly dedicated public Right-of-Way for
West Fernau Avenue.
