HomeMy WebLinkAbout12.12.25 Newsletter : TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Rebecca Grill, City Manager DATE: December 12, 2025 RE: Weekly Newsletter 1. CITY OF OSHKOSH IMPLEMENTS MORE ADVANCED ELECTRONIC BILL PAY SERVICE: The City of Oshkosh is pleased to announce the launch of its new online billing and payment service through InvoiceCloud, offering customers greater flexibility to view and pay their property tax bills online. The new system is simple to use and provides quick access to your bills, balance, and payment history. Customers will notice a clean, easy-to-read dashboard and can choose to securely save their payment information for future use. The service also offers more automatic payment options, such as selecting the exact day a payment should process, receiving email reminders, and managing multiple accounts in one place. For customers that choose not to create an account, they can view their current bill and make a one-time payment without registering. Customers will also have more ways to pay, including online, by phone, and by text. Another major improvement is that e-check payments for property tax bills are now free, while credit and debit card payments will continue to include a processing fee. Utility customers will be able to view their current bills and make one-time payments through InvoiceCloud. Additional features will be coming soon as the system becomes fully integrated with customers’ existing AquaHawk accounts. A 24/7 automated phone line is also available for checking balances or making payments at 888-412-1013. You may also choose to sign up for Pay by Text, which sends bill notifications directly to your phone and allows you to pay with a simple text reply. Access your account today at InvoiceCloud.com/CityofOshkoshWI. 2. FOND DU LAC HOUSE FINDS NEW HOME IN OSHKOSH: In July 2025, the Oshkosh Redevelopment Authority approved the sale of a vacant lot on Mill Street. The purchasing developer’s intention was to relocate a single-family home from Fond du Lac County to Oshkosh, where it will be renovated and then rented to a household using a housing voucher. If not able to be moved, the house had been slated for demolition due to impending road construction. The physical house move took place on November 25th, with the home arriving on Mill Street shortly after 10:30pm. The trip lasted roughly two and a half hours and required police escorts. Once on site, the crew spent several hours constructing a lift system to move the house onto the lot. Oshkosh Media was on site capturing drone photos to document this unique process. Please reach out to Economic Development if you would like to view the images, or check out the coverage of the event from last week’s City Manager’s Report. Thank you to everyone involved for making this creative and sustainable reuse of an infill lot possible. 3. LAST-MINUTE DONATION FUNDS BOOKS FOR KIDS: A local couple’s generosity and belief in the power of reading will put books in the hands and smiles on the faces of hundreds of Oshkosh area children this holiday season. Larry and Pam Lang read about a book drive being conducted by the Oshkosh Public Library, Caramel Crisp and Altrusa of Oshkosh for the Toys for Tots campaign. It concerned them that the need for books was likely to exceed the supply this year. “We saw the article in the newspaper and thought, we can we help,” explained Larry, a former finance professor at UW Oshkosh. The Langs made a sizeable donation to the Oshkosh Public Library – enough to purchase nearly 500 books for kids of all ages. Library staff selected books and quickly placed an order for delivery just in time for the Salvation Army of Oshkosh to distribute them to area families. “Kids just need books,” said Pam, who taught elementary school in Oshkosh for 36 years. “They need books for inspiration; to learn about the world.” We are grateful that the Langs recognize the magic that a book can bring to a child’s life and thank them for their generous donation! 4. GREAT READS 2025: As “best of the year” book lists pour in from all corners of the reading world, Oshkosh Public Library staff are weighing in with their Great Reads of 2025. The annual Great Reads video debuts on the library’s YouTube channel on December 12th and covers a wide range of titles that had library staff buzzing over the past year. You can also find a full rundown of titles on the library’s Staff Picks page to fill your 2026 TBR list. 5. MOVIES WITH FRIENDS: River East Neighborhood Association is back at the Oshkosh Public Library with another full schedule of Movies with Friends. Come in out of the cold, connect with neighbors and make memories with films that are sure to make you smile! Events are free and open to the entire community. Refreshments provided by River East.
