HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 3PLAN COMMISSION STAFF REPORT DECEMBER 2, 2025 ITEM 3: Recommendation Pertaining to Acquisition of Vacant Property Located East of the 3100 Block of Vinland Street Applicant: City of Oshkosh Department of Public Works Owner: Wisconsin Independent Christian Schools Actions Requested: The City of Oshkosh is requesting approval to acquire property from Wisconsin Independent Christian School (3100 Vinland Street). Applicable Ordinance Provisions: N/A Property Location and Background Information: This request is part of the City’s proposed construction of West Fernau Avenue from Vinland Street to Jackson Street (STH 76). In order to reduce potential flooding from occurring in this area, a detention basin is proposed. The subject property is currently being utilized as a farm field. The property is located at the southeast corner of Vinland Street and West Fernau Avenue. Page 1 Item 3 – Recommendation for Land Acquisition for property located at 3100 Vinland Street Analysis: The proposed acquisition will allow the City to use the acquired area for purposes related to the municipal storm sewer system. This includes installing, operating, maintaining, and replacing any related infrastructure when necessary. Strand Associates Inc. has prepared a draft of the acquisition documents. The documents will be signed as part of a future CSM, and will be recorded at the Winnebago County Register of Deeds upon approval by the Common Council. Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of the request to acquire property at 3100 Vinland Street.
