Logan Jungbacker
1. How do you view the role of a City Council Member– what is your job as a council member?
A Council Member’s primary role is to represent the community with integrity, thoughtful
policymaking, and transparent leadership. The role requires balancing fiscal responsibility with strategic
investment, listening closely to residents, and collaborating effectively with city staff and community
partners. The job involves aligning day-to-day governance with long-term goals that strengthen
Oshkosh’s future. Ultimately, the job serves to help shape a shared community vision while ensuring
that local government operates efficiently, equitably, and with full accountability to the public.
2. Will you be running for a seat on the Oshkosh Common Council in the next elecCon – whether
you are selected for this appointment or not?
Yes. My commitment to serving Oshkosh extends well beyond this appointment process. Whether or
not I am selected, I intend to run in the next election. I care deeply about contributing to our city’s
future and continuing the important work of building a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking
community.
3. Do you understand the Cme commitment required for a Council Member (meeCngs,
consCtuent interacCons, general community involvement, etc.) and do you have the Cme and
flexibility to accommodate this schedule?
Yes. I fully understand the time commitment expected of a City Council Member. As a business owner
and executive, I am accustomed to managing complex responsibilities and adjusting my schedule when
needed. I have the flexibility to put in the work and the experience to serve with focus, energy, and
intention.
4. Where do you see this community in five years?
In five years, I see Oshkosh continuing to grow as a dynamic, inclusive, and opportunity-rich city. I
envision a community that maintains its small-town character while embracing smart development and
responsible innovation. I see more connected neighborhoods, thriving business corridors, enhanced
parks and public spaces, and strengthened investments in public safety and community wellbeing.
Above all, I see a community where healthy collaboration among residents, businesses, and local
government drives sustainable, balanced growth.
5. A group of residents demands acCon on something we legally cannot do or have no control
over. How do you respond, publicly and privately?
First, I would listen carefully to ensure residents feel heard and understood. Publicly, I would
communicate clearly and transparently about the city’s legal or jurisdictional limitations, explaining why
certain actions cannot be taken while still respecting the concerns being raised. Privately, I would work
to connect those residents with the appropriate agencies, resources, or advocacy channels better
equipped to address their needs. My priority would be maintaining trust—ensuring residents feel
valued, respected, and supported, even when the city is not the entity that can take direct action.
6. What is your definiCon of sustainability and how do you relate it to city operaCons?
In my view, sustainability means meeting today’s needs without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet theirs. Within city operations, it involves making decisions that use taxpayer
dollars wisely, reduce long-term costs, support local businesses, protect both natural and financial
resources, and strengthen community resilience. A sustainable city plans ahead, prioritizes long-term
value, and builds a balanced foundation for responsible growth.
7. What is your opinion of the City budget and taxes; do you have any ideas to share?
The city budget should reflect both fiscal responsibility and clear community priorities. Taxes are an
essential tool for funding public services, but they must be managed with discipline, transparency, and
a commitment to measurable outcomes. I support strategies that encourage responsible economic
development, expand the tax base, leverage state and federal resources, and ensure that spending
provides meaningful returns for residents. My experience in the private-sector overseeing multimillion-
dollar budgets has reinforced the importance of accountability, long-range planning, and maximizing
value for the community.
8. As a Common Council Member how would you support the Strategic Plan Goals, Mission and
Vision of the community?
As a council member, I would champion policy decisions that advance our strategic goals—enhancing
quality-of-life services, strengthening infrastructure, supporting economic development, nurturing
healthy neighborhoods, and promoting public safety and wellness. I would work to build consensus
around these shared priorities and uphold transparent, effective governance. By collaborating closely
with city staff, residents, and community stakeholders, I plan to help advance initiatives that deliver
measurable, lasting benefits. My approach would center on practical, forward-looking solutions that
keep Oshkosh aligned with its mission and positioned for a bright and sustainable future.
