SUBJECT: Composting Program Discussion – Opportunity to Explore Options for Oshkosh
Dear SAB Members,
I wanted to share a recent conversation I had with Delaney from Dane County Waste &
Renewables regarding their composting program. Dane County has developed a successful
model that may offer ideas or inspiration for potential composting efforts here in Oshkosh. I’d
like to bring this forward for discussion and gauge interest from the Board.
There are a range of options we could consider from a small-scale, single-bin pilot to a larger
residential compost pick-up program. The latter would require collaboration between the City,
County, and potentially Dane County, which currently has the capacity to accept compostable
material. A key element would be identifying a waste hauler to manage transport and logistics.
I have a list of helpful resources from Dane County that I can share with anyone interested. At
this point, I’d simply like to open the conversation and explore whether this is something the
City might support, especially if we’re able to engage volunteers or a working group to help
move the idea forward.
