Chair Redlin moved the Director’s Report to this part of the agenda so that Director Cannizzo
could introduce a new staff member during this earlier time.
Director Cannizzo began by reporting on facility updates. She reported that the Museum is
scheduled to have its parking lots reconstructed beginning in 2025. City engineers are currently
working on the designs with particular attention to greater accessibility for visitors, the addition of
more parking stalls, and wider entrance/exits.

She reminded the Board that the Museum has quite a few construction projects in the works for this
year, including: updated exterior signage to start sometime in spring, elevator modernization
timeline is still TBD, the security camera upgrades are nearing completion, and additional work on
the Museum exterior will begin in spring.
Director Cannizzo noted that with the Waldwic Gallery project now completed, staff will be
turning their attention in the coming months to planning the long-term exhibition Deep Roots,
Growing City. This exhibit will continue the regional history interpretation from where it left off at
the fur trade in the exhibition People of the Waters. She looks forward to sharing updates as the
planning and design process moves along.
Regarding staffing updates, Director Cannizzo and Assistant Director Emily Rock introduced
Museum Archivist Avis Seizert and had her tell a little about herself. Avis reported that she earned
her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and History here in Oshkosh at UWO, then earned a
Masters degree in Library and Information Science with an archives concentration through UW-
Milwaukee. She has experience working in a number of library and archives settings including the
UW-Green Bay Archives and Area Research Center, the Neenah Public Library, a corporate
library and archives, and most recently as the Local History and Genealogy Librarian at the Fond
du Lac Public Library. Avis has also done volunteer work for the UW-Oshkosh Archives and Area
Research Center, the UW-Green Bay Archives LGBTQ+ oral history and community archiving
project, National History Day, and for the Museum’s most recent Osh Hop. She expressed that she
is excited to be here at OPM with this great team and collection to serve Oshkosh, her home
community. Avis left the meeting after her introduction.
Director Cannizzo was pleased to announce that Anne Schaefer has accepted the position of the
Marketing and Fund Development Coordinator. Anne is currently in a similar position with the City
of Oshkosh Parks Department. Staff are in the process of determining a start date and Director
Cannizzo looks forward to introducing her to the Board at a future meeting.
The Visitor Services Associate position posting was closed and interviews are scheduled to begin
tomorrow, Thursday February 13.
For miscellaneous topics Director Cannizzo reminded the Board that the OPM Auxiliary is
celebrating their centennial by sponsoring a free admission day this Saturday, February 15th,
2025. They will have celebratory treats in the Galena Room along with a slideshow. The sunroom
will feature a poster display highlighting their contributions, scrapbooks, and gift basket drawing.
Further, she reported that the exhibitions Nature as Muse featuring Tiffany Studios items on loan
from the Richard Driehaus collection, and The Beauty of Marquetry and Parquetry featuring items
from the OPM collection are now open.
In conclusion, Director Cannizzo gave an update on the Bridging Past to Present: Exploring Native
American Cultural Heritage program series. A kick-off panel presentation event will be held on
February 23rd, 2025, at the Oshkosh Convention Center. There is no cost, but reservations are
needed. That concluded the Director’s report.
Next was review and vote on the MAC Board Bylaws. The Board each received a copy of the
proposed Bylaws several days prior to the meeting so they would have time to read through it.
City Attorney Lorenson was available to answer any questions. She noted that as she and Director
Cannizzo reviewed the bylaws, their goal was to eliminate redundancies and be sure all wording

aligned with City Codes. No term limits were put into the Bylaws because there are no term limits
recommended in the codes. Time was given for questions. When the discussion was complete a
motion was made.
