RE: Weekly Newsletter
1. WISCONSIN POLICY FORUM’S RELEASES REPORT ON 2024 PROPERTY TAXES: The
Wisconsin Policy Forum is a statewide nonpartisan, independent policy research
organization that provides informed analysis of critical policy issues affecting local
governments, school districts, and the state of Wisconsin. As you may recall, in an August
newsletter we reported on Wisconsin Policy Forum’s release of an update to their Municipal
DataTool, an interactive and in-depth source of information on municipal government
spending and services in Wisconsin. They recently released a report on Wisconsin property
tax levies, which shows trends in property taxes throughout the state. The report also
includes a link to their 2024 Property Values and Taxes DataTool, which can be used to
explore property value and tax trends for all Wisconsin municipalities dating back to the
1980s.
2. OSHKOSH FIRE CAPTAIN DEPLOYED FOR HURRICANE HELENE: Captain CJ Wedell
of the Oshkosh Fire Department is a member of the Wisconsin Task Force (WI-TF1), which
was deployed to North Carolina on September 27th to provide flooding assistance in the wake
of Hurricane Helene. While in western North Carolina, WI-TF1 worked closely with local
first responders and search and rescue teams from other states to assist with swift water
searches and to gain access to residents in mountain areas that had been cut off from
communications following catastrophic flooding. Captain Wedell and 15 other members of
WI-TF1 returned to the Regional Emergency All-Climate Training (REACT) Center, located
at Volk Field in Camp Douglas, on Saturday, October 5th. Thank you, Captain Wedell!
