RE: Weekly Newsletter
1. CLEARWELLS REPLACEMENT UPDATE: The Department of Public Works continues to
work on the plans to replace the existing non-compliant underground clearwell storage tanks
at the Water Filtration Plant with compliant above-grade structures. Staff are working with
the landscape architecture firm, Saiki Design, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin, on the exterior site
landscaping and reimagination of Lake Shore Drive. Saiki Design, Inc. has a history of
working in the City of Oshkosh. They are the firm that worked with the Wisconsin
Department of Transportation on the panels along the Lake Butte des Morts causeway. Saiki
Design, Inc. also has a history of working with the Oshkosh Public Museum, and has a good
connection with their staff, which will be very beneficial as we work through the designs for
this project. It is anticipated a contract with Saiki Design, Inc. will be on the Common
Council agenda at one of the October meetings, probably the second meeting.
The building architectural review and General Development Plan are planned to be before
the Plan Commission at the November 19th meeting. A workshop with the Plan Commission
is planned at the October 15th meeting.
As part of the Plan Commission process, there will be a neighborhood meeting scheduled,
as well. This meeting will be in late October or early November, the date will be identified
during the submittal process.
If you have any questions, please contact Steve Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works /
Utilities General Manager.
