(AAA) is a non-profit organization of dedicated volunteers to help serve the Hmong/Asian communities in Oshkosh, WI as well as in all of Winnebago County. Our mission is to promote and preserve cultural identity, opportunities, services, and partnerships for the Hmong/Asian community. We are asking for your support to help fund $40,000 for the following existing programs so we can provide the necessary materials, secure a rental office and studio for the Hmong/Asian individuals to continue their cultural learning, and provide scholarships to Hmong/Asian students to help with their college tuition. The Hmong/Asian community will greatly benefit from these funds and will help assist the community as a whole when such service is required. As each student graduates from such a class, their cultural education will be utilized to maintain traditional Hmong weddings and Hmong funeral services for generations to come. ● $20,000 for the Annual Hmong New Celebration: An annual community Hmong New Year celebration takes place in the fall where the Hmong honors their ancestors and gives thanks for the completion of the harvest. People would dress in traditional clothing and enjoy Hmong traditional foods, dance, music, and other forms of entertainment. This also allows the community to celebrate the ethnic traditions and culture, and also educate those who have an interest in the Hmong culture and tradition. ○ Funding will help ■ Provide food and drinks for the attendees ■ Provide entertainment, sound system production rental, and dance shows for the attendees ■ Expo Center rental fees and miscellaneous cost ● $5,000 for the Hmong Culture Class: This program is a diverse set of courses that explore various aspects of the Hmong culture and traditions. Cultural education may include Hmong language learning, Hmong kinship, religion, shamanism, wedding culture procedures, and funeral traditions procedures. o Up to 100 students each year. Currently has over 25 active students. - Need funding to help - Office supplies/materials such as notebooks, pencils, highlighters, binders, etc. - Rental space fees - App fees (i.e. Zoom subscriptions for Zoom calls) in the event of any students contract of COVID19 - Snacks and beverages for students - Marketing/Printing ● $5,000 for the Hmong Oshkosh Dance Class: This program promotes health and wellness as a group. Hmong dance can be in the traditional line dance or as a group dance showcasing the traditional Hmong articles of clothing. The Hmong dance program celebrates and maintains the traditions and culture to pass down from generation to generation. Hmong Dance will be showcased at Hmong Tournament or Hmong New Year. Currently has 15 active students. - Need funding to help - Studio rental space fees - Portable speaker with Bluetooth connections - Hire and maintain choreographer - Props for dancing - Hmong clothes and accessories - Snacks and beverages for students - Marketing/Printing ● $10,000 College Scholarships: $1000 scholarship for Hmong/Asian students. Students must be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Requires a 2.7 GPA, short answer responses/essay, letter of recommendation, and FAFSA application. ○ Need funding to help provide ten (10) $1,000 scholarships or five $2000 scholarships The President of the AAA will be responsible for overseeing all programs. The Treasury and Secretary will distribute funding to ensure all funds are appropriately allocated and utilized for their intended purpose. The Treasury and Secretary will record and maintain all records to ensure all programs are fully funded and run efficiently. All Board Members are responsible for monitoring all funds transactions and investigating and disciplining any misuse of funds. If the grant request is not fully funded, we will plan to host fundraising events, ask for donations from the community, and volunteer for businesses/organizations to gain funds. The Hmong culture, tradition, and language is slowly diminishing as each new generation adapts to the modern culture. Each year, the community volunteers their time to teach the younger generations to learn about their culture and history to maintain our traditions for the next generations. With this funding, we will be able to fund all programs and provide service for free for all students and the community by the end of the year 2024. President of Asian American Association, Inc.
