OSHKOSH PUBLIC MUSEUM CELEBRATES 100 YEARS: As the Oshkosh Public Museum (OPM) proudly celebrates its centennial, we invite the community to join the celebrations through “OPM 100,” a year-long series of exhibitions, events, and programs marking 100 years of preserving and promoting Oshkosh's rich history. For 100 years, the OPM has been a cornerstone of our city's cultural legacy. “OPM 100” is a tribute to the countless stories, artifacts, and moments that have shaped our past and continue to inspire the future. Special Exhibits: o Sawyer Saga – A Trilogy of Exhibitions Chronicles a Family's Enduring Legacy. Part One opening March 15; Part Two opening June 15; Part Three opening September 21 o 1920s Oshkosh: Colorful Times in Black and White – See Oshkosh, 100 years younger! Opening February 6. Educational Programs: o American Girls: 1920s History with Claudie – Join the party to win an American Girl® Claudie and accessories! Saturday, February 24, 2024 Preserving Memories Workshops: o How to Care for Your Family Photos – Saturday, April 20, 2024 o How to Care for Your Treasured Textiles – Saturday, October 5, 2024 Special Events: o Date Night at the Museum – Bring a friend or special someone for an evening at the Museum. We’ll provide the hors d’oeuvres and history. Good conversation provided by you! Friday, February 9, 2024 o Historic Osh Hop – Get access to historic properties around Oshkosh through this exclusive event! Full list of locations to be announced. Saturday, May 11, 2024 o Día de los Muertos – An uplifting celebration of lost loved ones through traditional elements, vibrant colors, and the arts. Join us for our third-annual free celebration of Day of the Dead! Saturday, November 2, 2024 o A Toast to a Century: OPM 100 Reception – Cheers to a century of memories, and to the countless stories yet to unfold! More information to come. GET INVOLVED IN A BOARD OR COMMISSION: If you are interested in serving your community, please consider becoming a member of one of the City’s citizen advisory boards, commissions, or committees. MINUTES FOR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: All meeting minutes are uploaded to the website upon approval. LOOKING AHEAD: Among the meetings I have scheduled for the week of January 22nd include the following: on Monday at 5:30 PM, I will attend the DEI Committee meeting to present an update on ARPA funding for discussion with committee members. On Wednesday at 3:00 PM, I will meet with staff to discuss options for protecting against property damage of City facilities after business hours. On Thursday afternoon, I will attend the Senior Center’s Fox Fitness Center Open House, being held from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. On Friday at 7:30 AM, Finance Director Van Gompel and I will attend the Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors meeting to discuss the possibility of using vehicle registration fees and utility fees to replace special assessments for road and sidewalk construction.
