COMMON COUNCIL MEETING
June 8, 2004

A. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
1. BILLS
It is recommended that the bills, as audited and presented by the Director of Finance, be
approved for payment.
2.
YOU CAN PADDLE DAY
Request permission to grant approval to Precision Sports to utilize Menominee Park and
facilities on Sunday, June 13, 2004, from 9:00 am. to 4:00 p.m., for their You Can Paddle
Day event, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
3. ANTI-TABOR RALLY
Request permission to grant approval to Winnebagoland UniServ to utilize Opera House
Square and facilities on Saturday, June 19, 2004, from 10:00 am. to 1 :00 p.m., for an
Anti-TABOR Rally, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
4. FREE MOVIES IN THE PARK
Request permission to grant approval to the Downtown Business Improvement District to
utilize Opera House Square and facilities on six Fridays - July 9 and 16, and August 6,
13, 20 and 27, 2004 - from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. - and that Market Street be closed on
these Fridays, between High Avenue and Algoma Boulevard, to host Free Movies in the
Park, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
5. WAIVER OFSANITARY SEWER HOOK-UP
Request permission to grant approval to residents of 2425 Hickory Lane to postpone their
city sewer connection until August 31, 2005, to accommodate the razing of the house on
that property and the building of a new house at that location, in accordance with the
attached letter of request.
6. ST. RAPHAEL'S 5K RUN ¡WALK/SKATE
Request permission to grant approval to St. Raphael's Church to utilize city streets and
facilities on Saturday, August 7, 2004, from 9:00 am. to 11 :00 am., for their annual 5K
Run/Walk/Skate, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
7. CLOSING OF RAILROAD TRACKS AT WASHINGTON AVENUE
Request permission to grant approval to Rusch Construction to close the railroad tracks
at Washington Avenue on Thursday, June 10,2004, at 8:00 am., to 3:00 p.m. on Friday,
June 11,2004, for needed repairs to the railroad crossing, in accordance with the attached
memorandum of request.

I trust this note finds you well and ready for another great summer of fun. I wanted to
write to you in regard to our annual You Can Paddle Day event. We are hoping to
schedule the event for Sunday June 13, 2004, at Menominee Park, from 9am-4pm.
Is there any special permit we need to submit or group we need to contact in order to
schedule this event?
This would be our third year and we are planning on 50-100 people showing up to try out
their skills in some of our boats.

I am the co-chair for the 2004 St. Raphael Church's annual picnic.
On Saturday, August 7th, we have our 5K Run/Walk/Skate from approximately
9:00 am until 11:00 am. (For route, see enclosed map.) The streets will be lined
with course marshals to ensure the safety of all participants and residents. We
ask permission to utilize these streets for this event.
