HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-381.docSEPTEMBER 24, 2002 FIRST READING OCTOBER 8, 2002 02-354 SECOND READING 02-381 ORDINANCE (CARRIED 7-0 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: AMEND MEMBERSHIP/LANDMARKS COMMISSION INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINSTRATION RECOMMENDED BY: THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH REPEALING SECTION 2-48(A) OF THE OSHKOSH MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO MEMBERSHIP AND TERMS OF THE LANDMARKS COMMISSION WHEREAS, the Oshkosh Public Museum and the Paine Art Center and Gardens have expertise which may be valuable to the members of the Landmarks Commission; and WHEREAS, such organizations have offered representatives to participate in a non- voting capacity in the Landmarks Commission meetings. The Common Council of the City of Oshkosh does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 2-48(A) of the Oshkosh Municipal Code pertaining to membership and terms for the Landmarks Commission is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows: SECTION 2-48 LANDMARKS COMMISSION (A) Membership and Terms The Landmarks Commission shall be composed of six (6) voting members consisting of: Five (5) citizen members, and one (1) Council Member. The Director of Community Development or designee shall serve as coordinator and recording secretary for the Commission. There shall also be appointed two (2) alternate members, who shall be authorized to act in the place of a Commissioner who is unable to attend a meeting. The first alternate appointed shall act first and the second alternate appointed shall act second. Citizen members shall serve three (3) year terms. In addition to these voting members, the Director or his/her designee of the Paine Art Center and Gardens and the Director or his/her designee of the Oshkosh Public Museum shall be non-voting members of the Commission. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
