HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-175.docREVISED MAY 14, 2002 02-175 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 4-1 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: APPROVE SESQUICENTENNIAL ALLOCATIONS INITIATED BY: MAYOR HINTZ WHEREAS, the 2002 City of Oshkosh operating budget contains $14,000 for sesquicentennial projects and activities; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that the money be allocated as follows: 1. Oshkosh Public Museum - $5,000 Project to transfer and to edit eight hours of historic film, related to the 1953 Centennial celebration in the museum archives, onto a one-hour VHS video tape. The video will be duplicated and sold for the Sesquicentennial. 2. Channel 10- $4,000 Project to prepare a program entitled "Oshkosh Then and Now". The tape will be a visual tour of Oshkosh prepared by Jim and Ron Metz, local historians. Other costs include staff time and purchase of tapes for duplication that will be sold for Sesquicentennial. 3. Oshkosh Public Library- $2,000 Project to digitize additional, commonly-referenced historic documents to be available on the library web site in conjunction with the Sesquicentennial. made · 4. Sesquicentennial banners- $2,000 Project to purchase banners containing the Sesquicentennial logo for placement on street lightposts. · 5. Sesquicentennial signage - $!,500 $1,000 (With consent of the Council) Project to purchase signage containing the Sesquicentennial logo for placement at the entrances to the city and other appropriate sites. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the proper city officials are authorized and directed to expend the monies as allocated above and to take those steps necessary to implement the above- referenced projects and activities.
