HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.02.2023 MinutesCITY OF OSHKOSH SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD Minutes October 2nd 2023 SAB PRESENT: Margy Davey, Lisa Marone, Megan LaFond, Vic Oliver, Brad Spanbauer EXCUSED: Ken Osmond, LaKeisha Haase ABSENT: STAFF AND OTHERS: Brandon Nielsen (Staff Liaison), Staff (Oshkosh Media) I. Call to Order Chair Margy Davey called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and a quorum was declared present. II. Public Comment Ms. Davey asked if there were public comments. No public comments occurred. III. Approval of Minutes, September 7th, 2023 Ms. Marone motioned to approve the minutes. Mr. Spanbauer seconded the motion. The board approved the September 7th minutes 5-0 (Marone/Spanbauer). IV. Environmental Leadership Award Ms. Davey introduced the topic of Environmental Leadership Award. She shared a video, along with some background of the award, and the criteria necessary for nominating someone. Ms. Davey explained that this will be awarded in March 2024 at the State of the City. There was discussion amongst the board pertaining to the Environmental Leadership Award, its timeline, and what the plan is for future meetings on this topic. V. Monthly Sustainability Facebook Topics Ms. Davey asked if there have been any updates on the monthly Sustainability Facebook Topics and how the sharing of content has been going. Mr. Nielsen reminded the group on ways they could get content to him that they wanted to shared on the Sustainability Facebook page. There was brief discussion between staff and the board on how to keep up with posting and what content should be posted when. VI. Sustainable Communities Network Event on October 30th Ms. Davey announced that the Sustainable Communities Network Event will be in Oshkosh on October 30th. She explained that she is still looking for a venue to hold this event, but once she has it set, she will plan on sharing that with the group as well as on social media. VII. Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition Resolution Ms. Davey explained that the group wanted to revisit this item from the prior presentation at the September 7th meeting. The group decided to work through the example resolution from Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition as well as examples from other communities that staff provided. There was discussion on what they would like to see in the resolution, what to take out, and how to change it to make sense for the City of Oshkosh. IX. Agenda Items for Future Meeting Fall and Winter Farmers Market, Environmental Leadership Award, Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition Resolution, UWO Environmental Studies Student Seminar Projects X.
