PURPOSE: AMEND REGULATIONS RELATING TO LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR TAXICABS INITIATED BY: COUNCIL MEMBER BLOECHL A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH REPEALING AND RECREATING SECTION 22-5 OF THE OSHKOSH MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO REGULATION OF TAXICABS The Common Council of the City of Oshkosh does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 22-5 of the Oshkosh Municipal Code pertaining to Liability Insurance for Taxicabs is hereby repealed and recreated to read as follows: SECTION 22-5 LIABILITY INSURANCE. No license to operate a taxicab shall be issued unless and until the owner shall have filed with the City Clerk an insurance policy issued by an insurance company licensed to do business in the State of Wisconsin, providing insurance coverage for such taxicab, (which must be specifically described in the policy) with a minimum liability of one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) per occurrence, for any accident due to the operation of such vehicle. Said policy shall also include the City of Oshkosh as an additional insured. The policy shall be approved by the City Attorney or his/her designee and shall contain a provision that the policy may not be canceled before the expiration of its term except upon thirty (30) days' written notice to the City Clerk. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication, and for all licenses issued for any license period beginning on or after July 1, 2002.
