(CARRIED 5-2 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN )
PURPOSE:
AUTHORIZE POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANTS
INITIATED BY: OSHKOSH POLICE DEPARTMENT
BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council for the City of Oshkosh that the proper
City officials are hereby authorized and directed to approve grant agreements with
Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, for:
"Click-it-Why Risk it? 2002" - a $5,500 grant intended for overtime patrol
enforcement that will emphasize increased safety belt and correct child
safety seat usage, it will also promote the reduction of alcohol and speed-
related crashes, as well as increased knowledge by law enforcement and the
general public of issues of distracted and aggressive driving.
"Comprehensive Alcohol Risk reDuction (CARD) Grant 2002" - a $4,000
grant that may consist of a combination of undercover "Cops In Shops" and
"Party Patrol" deployments to deter underage alcohol procurement and
consumption. The comprehensive CARD project allows for undercover and
uniformed patrols; provides a greater number and variety of patrols in an
area; and will greatly increase the perception that law enforcement is
present and will be promoting "zero tolerance" by citing violators.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper City officials are hereby authorized
and directed to execute any and all documents required by the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for purposes of the same, and are further
authorized and directed, if said grant is awarded, to accept such funds, pursuant to the
terms of the grant application.
