ZOO HOURS REDUCED DUE TO STAFFING SHORTAGE: Beginning Monday, September 11th, the Menominee Park Zoo will be open for reduced hours through the closing date of Sunday, September 24th. This is due to a shortage in staff. The zoo will be open daily during this time from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. 2. HELP PLAN THE FUTURE OF GO TRANSIT: GO Transit is updating its five-year Transit Development Plan that will include changes to bus routes from 2024 to 2028. Help us shape the plan by filling out a survey to answer questions such as the following: • What destinations are most important to transit riders? • Are there new places GO Transit needs to serve? • How can GO Transit improve the rider experience? The survey can be found at https://polco.us/stbprh and will be active until September 17th. Thanks for your feedback! 3. LIBRARY SEEKS “CREATURES OF IMAGINATION”: From September 29th to October 24th, kids and teens are invited to submit their original, handmade creations to the Oshkosh Public Library’s Children’s Department for a chance to win prizes in a variety of categories and have their creatures placed on display at the library. New this year, HobbyTown Oshkosh will provide gift certificates to first and second place winners. All participants will receive a small goody bag with items to take home. F STOP PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST RETURNS TO THE LIBRARY: The Library’s annual F Stop Photography Contest is making a return this fall, inviting teens and adults to capture the essence of Oshkosh. Launching on September 18th, this year’s theme is “Iconic Oshkosh.” The F Stop Contest is a celebration of the city’s unique identity and its residents’ creative spirits. From serene lakeshores to historic landmarks, participants are encouraged to use their cameras to capture what truly makes Oshkosh an iconic place to live, work and play. The contest runs from September 18th to October 16th and will honor the top three photographers in two divisions: ages 13-17 and ages 18 and older. GET INVOLVED IN A BOARD OR COMMISSION: If you are interested in serving your community, please consider becoming a member of a Board, Commission or Committee. LOOKING AHEAD: Throughout the week of September 11th, I will be continuing the operating budget review process, meeting with department heads, staff and the finance department. The other meetings of note for the week include the following: On Tuesday at 7:30 AM, I will attend the Chamber of Commerce’s Community Sounding Board meeting. On Wednesday at 9:00 AM, I will meet with Lisa Voss, the interim director of the Oshkosh Public Library, to discuss their memorial fund. On Thursday and Friday, I will be attending the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Mutual Insurance Board of Directors meeting in Milwaukee.
