July 6th, 2023

I. Call to Order
Chair Margy Davey called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and a quorum was declared present.
II. Public Comment
Ms. Davey asked if there were public comments.
No public comments occurred.
III. Approval of Minutes, July 6th, 2023
Ms. Marone motioned to approve the minutes. Ms. LaFond seconded the motion.
The board approved the April 3rd minutes 4-0 (Marone/LaFond).
IV. Sustainability Advisory Board Member Update
Ms. Davey gave an update on the Sustainability Advisory Board and how it will go forward as a
board with 7 members and 2 alternates per Common Council’s recommendations.
There was then brief discussion among board members pertaining to this update.
V. Review Focus on Energy Presentation
Ms. Davey gave a summary presentation of the initial Focus on Energy Presentation that was
held in the library on May 3rd, 2023.
VI. No Mow May Staff Update
Mr. Nielsen gave an overview on No Mow May 2023. He explained that overall participation
was much lower than the previous year. He also shared that the Inspections Department has
been tracking long grass different this year to hopefully get a better handle on complaints, No
Mow May participants versus those who are not, etc.
There was discussion amongst the group on thoughts to why numbers were lower, what to do
different and/or better for next year, getting the word out, and more beyond No Mow May.
VII. Green Team Staff Update
Mr. Nielsen gave an update on the Green Team’s first meeting and what they worked to
accomplish. He stated that the first goal is to get all the information needed to finish the Green
Tier Legacy Report. He also went through what he sees this group doing into the future as well
as getting more staff and other departments involved.
VIII. Review 2023 Goals
There was discussion and updates on the board’s goals for the year. The first goal being related
to Sustainability education or training for all city employees. The board discussed what they
could see this looking like and also brought up possibly partnering UW – Oshkosh to get this
completed. The second goal is to create the Green Tier Legacy report. There was discussion on
where that progress is now, the updated report, and how to get all the information that is
needed. There was then discussion on the Energy Innovation Grant that is the board’s third
goal. The board and staff discussed how this could be completed and where to move forward
with making this happen
