This is a request from a citizen. The warrants for a yield sign are as follows; a) Three or more right angle accidents in a twelve month period. b) 1,500 or more vehicles per day. c) Inadequate sight distance. The accident history for this intersection is shown below: Intersection 1997 1998 1999 Covington Drive & Allerton Drive 0 0 0 The accident history doesn't indicate any problem with this intersection. The traffic volume at this intersection is approximately 1,250 vehicles per day. This level of traffic doesn't exceed the required level for the installation of a yield sign. The required stopping distance for a vehicle traveling 25 mph is 120 feet. The sight distance at this location is approximately 65 feet. There doesn't appear to be any problem with this intersection, based on the accident history. However, the sight distance for northbound and westbound traffic is very poor and meets the warrant for a yield sign. DEFEATED BY TRAFFIC REVIEW BOARD, (1-3).
