The Institute of Traffic Engineers has established nationally recognized standards for the placement of stop signs. These stand ards or warrants take into consideration among other things; traffic speed, traffic volumes, sight distance and frequency of traffic “gaps” which allow safe vehicle entry or pedestrian crossings. This intersection doesn’t meet the warrants for the placeme nt of a four - way stop sign. The Board can deviate from the warrants due to the closeness of this intersection to South Park School. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to observe this intersection when school was in session. The school has neve r requested additional stop signs. DEFEATED BY TRAFFIC REVIEW BOARD (0 - 7).
