The accident history for this intersection is shown below:
Intersection 2003 (4 months) 2002 2001
Delaware Street and Florida Avenue 0 0 0
The accident history doesn’t indicate a problem at this intersection.
The Institute of Traffic Engineers has established nationally recognized standards
for the placement of stop signs. These stand ards or warrants take into
consideration among other things; traffic speed, traffic volumes, sight distance and
frequency of traffic “gaps” which allow safe vehicle entry or pedestrian crossings.
This intersection doesn’t meet the warrants for the placeme nt of a four - way stop
sign. The Board can deviate from the warrants due to the closeness of this
intersection to South Park School. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to
observe this intersection when school was in session. The school has neve r
requested additional stop signs.
DEFEATED BY TRAFFIC REVIEW BOARD (0 - 7).
