This intersection doesn’t meet the warrants for a four - way stop sign.
th
The students that wish to cross Eagle Street to proceed east should cross Eagle Street at 5 Avenue, where
th th
Eagle Street sto ps for 5 Avenue. Students can then proceed east on 5 Avenue to access the crossing guard
th
and the four - way stop located at 5 Avenue and Sawyer Street.
I surveyed the intersection for two days and I found an average of eight (8) students crossing Eag le Street. I also
discovered that four (4) students went to parents waiting in vehicles parked east of Eagle Street and three (3)
th
students proceeded south to 5 Avenue.
DEFEATED BY TRAFFIC REVIEW BOARD (6 - 1)
REQUEST FOR UNRESTRICTED PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF BEECH STREET FROM STILLWELL
AVENUE TO GRUENWALD AVENUE. [EXISTING CONDITION: 2 - HOUR PARKING BETWEEN 6:00 A.M.
AND 6:00 P.M.]
This is a request from the Board.
The removal of parking on the west side of Beech Street between Murdock Avenue and Sti llwell Avenue will
improve the ingress and egress for any new development located on the northeast corner of Murdock Avenue
and Beech Street. There also doesn’t appear to be any need for the 2 - hour restriction on the west side of
Beech Street north of Sti llwell Avenue and that restriction can be removed. The proposed changes should
provide an acceptable flow of traffic in the area, and if conditions change the Board can always modify the
proposed parking changes.
