A request for No Parking on W. Ripple Avenue South Side from Oregon Street to Red Oak Court. Current Condition: no restrictions. (This is a citizen request – Neil Andrasko) A citizen reported that as Generac has grown, they no longer have adequate employee parking. A parking lot is currently under development however; the citizen reports that it is difficult for semis and vehicles to traverse the roadway with cars parked on both sides. Staff evaluated the area and confirmed it is heavily parked and we do restrict parking in most industrial parks throughout the City. This road is unique as there aren’t a lot of businesses off it however; it does connect to the future Aviation park development area and there is a small residential development on Red Oak Court. W. Ripple Avenue is 36 feet wide which doesn’t necessarily warrant restricted parking however with cars heavily parked on both sides of the street, it is hard for vehicles to see and traverse traffic especially at the entrance and exit to the plant. Crash history: none There is still ample on-street parking available with parking restricted to the north side of the road. Once the parking lot is expanded, on-street parking will be greatly reduced. Restricting parking now will benefit future conditions as this road connects to the future industrial park. As we discussed at the last meeting, part of this section of the road is in the town and part of it is in the city. I recommend addressing/restricting parking on the south side of the road where the city has jurisdiction (see attached map). The town will need to deal with the part of the road under their jurisdiction. I recommend approval. NEW BUSINESS 2. A request to extend the no parking time on Smith Avenue south side to 4:00 p.m. Current condition: No Parking, south side, from Ontario Street to Vinland Street during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days. (This is a request from the school bus company) No parking in this area has been in place for many years to mitigate congestion in the area for school traffic and discourage on-street parking vs. off-street parking. The area in from of the high school is extremely congested after school. Over the years, school hours have changed and currently school is dismissed at 3:33 p.m. therefore, cars are still parked in this area right at school release. School buses are having an extremely difficult time maneuvering in the area. The high school has two large parking lots which are not at capacity and a much safer place for vehicles to park. I recommend approval. 3. Review 2022 Crash Analysis (reports attached) STAFF STATEMENTS AGENDA ITEMS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS ADJOURNMENT
