PRESENT: Judy Richey; Mike Ford; Pat Jirovetz; Bryn Ceman; Julie Kiefer; Heidi Basford- Kerkhof; Cynthia Thorpe; Joanne Murphy Spice EXCUSED: Julie Maslowski; Julie Davids ABSENT: STAFF: Jean Wollerman, Senior Services Manager; Bobbie Nagler, Office Assistant C.) APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes were not approved at meeting, approval will be on March 7, 2023 Agenda D.) CITIZEN COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS: NONE E.) PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: NONE F.) PRESENTATION: a. Attorney LaKeicha Haase and Attorney Kelly Schwab-preventing financial exploitation, completing POAs/Living Wills, estate planning, etc. See Attachment A-Protect Yourself and Loved Ones from Financial Exploitation—Attorney Haase stated fifty year old’s and older have 70% of the wealth. G.) OLD BUSINESS: H.) NEW BUSINESS: I.) OTHER BUSINESS: Upcoming community events for Older Adults- a.) Mrs. Kiefer stated Living in Retirement (LIR) spring classes started; registration for Grandparents if half full. b.) Mrs. Ceman, See Attachment B- On-line training for Elder Abuse; See Attachment C-The Hummingbird Project; See Attachment D- Empowered Caregiver Community c.) Mrs. Murphy Spice announced the Health Department provides a monthly newsletter “Health Happenings” and to receive the newsletter, one should go the to the Winnebago County Health Department website and register; She handed out information on Rebuilding Together Fox Valley, See Attachment E- Razzle; she stated COVID is slowing down and the County is seeking a public health nurse. d.) Mrs. Jirovetz announced The Wisconsin Council for Problem Gambling will hold a screening date on March 14th, to get information visit their website e.) Mrs. Basford-Kerkhof announced a scam that involves scammers calling to say to receive your 8.7% Social Security increase you must provide personal details. Social Security will only contact you via letter. Increase will be received automatically f.) Mrs. Wollerman provided all members with a Oshkosh Seniors Center (OSC) monthly newsletter, she stated one can view on the city website. She announced the (OSC) received a grant from Wisconsin Institute of Healthy Aging (WIHA) to conduct 200 tests for the Falls Risk program, starting at the end of March or beginning of April. g.) Mrs. Thorp stated she had been contacted by the Oshkosh Area School District, because of her role in the Neighborhood Association. She explained they wanted input on the closing of schools and use for the building. She stated the building is viable and the association would like to see a program that was intergenerational. h.) Ms. Richey shared information; See Attachment F- Oshkosh Area Community Pantry; See Attachment G- Waite Rug Place; see Attachment H- Change of Address Scam; see Attachment I- Repair Café; see Attachment J- Oshkosh Fire Department-Automatic Vehicle Location J.) ADJOURNMENT: Mrs. Kiefer moved to adjourn at 9:10 am, Mr. Ford seconded, ALL IN FAVOR, Motion carried (8) to adjourn at 9:10 am.
