HomeMy WebLinkAboutITEM V - Guidlines - Envrionmental Leadership AwardCity of Oshkosh WI Environmental Leadership Awards Since 2019, the City of Oshkosh Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) annually awards an individual, group, or project for environmental leadership. These awards are designed to recognize those whose environmental leadership has made a significant contribution to the community and has had a significant impact on the environment. The SAB may also wish to honor other nominees for their contributions to the environment (e.g., lifetime achievement or honorable mention, etc.). The SAB, with assistance from staff and the Oshkosh Southwest Rotary Environmental and Beautification Committee, will market the awards to environmental and community groups as well as to the general public. Nominations are to be made by emailing the SAB general information email address, SAB@ci.oshkosh.wi.us. Nominations must include the name and contact information for the nominee and the nominator, a brief (e.g., 500 word) summary of the nominee's contribution(s) to the environment, and no more than 3 letters of support and/or 3 exhibits, including, if applicable, a photo. The selection committee (which shall include a representative from Oshkosh Southwest Rotary) will make recommendations using the following criteria: 1. Environmental activism within the City of Oshkosh (participation over time) 2. Leadership contribution (positions and tenure) 3. Development of an innovative or model program, or facility in use or being considered for use by others 4. Leading or fostering a long-term initiative making a substantial contribution to environmental protection or removal of environmental hazards 5. Leadership influential in achieving a documented substantial improvement in quality of the environment Annual award cycle: 1. September: Market award via publication on SAB webpage, and through personal contacts, emails, and selected media 2. October-January: Applications accepted through January 20 3. November: Establish Review Committee 4. January: Applications reviewed 5. February: Award recommendations to SAB 6. March: Awards made at State of the City
