OSHKOSH COMMITTEE ON AGING (COA) MINUTES
November 1, 2022
A.) Ms. Richey called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
B.) PRESENT: Judy Richey; Mike Ford; Julie Davids; Pat Jirovetz; Joanne Murphy Spice; Bryn
Ceman; Cynthia Thorpe; Julie Maslowski; Heidi Basford-Kerkhof
EXCUSED: Julie Kiefer
ABSENT: Cheryl Hentz
STAFF: Jean Wollerman, Senior Services Manager; Bobbie Nagler, Activities Coordinator
C.) APPROVAL OF MINUTES: September 6, 2022 minutes approved as written: Mrs. Thorpe
moved to approve the minutes as written; Mrs. Ceman seconded; ALL IN FAVOR, Motion
carried (9) to accept the minutes as written.
D.) CITIZEN COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS: NONE
E.) PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: NONE
F.) PRESENTATION:
a.) Dr. Susan McFadden, Professor Emerita of Psychology at UWO, Fox Valley Memory
Project, see Attachment A- Fox Valley Memory Project

I.) OTHER BUSINESS: Upcoming community events for Older Adults
a.) UWO Learning in retirement – see attachment B- (A Conversation with Governor Tommy
Thomson)
b.) Mrs. Ceman announced that this month is Family Care Givers Month; see attachment C-
(How to Support Family Caregivers taking Care of Older Adults) see attachment D-
National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP)
c.) Mr. Ford announced there was a public hearing at 5 pm regarding the City’s budget
d.) Mrs. Murphy Spice announced there were vaccinations provided on Wednesday’s from 1-
6 pm at SunnyView Expo Center; she stated there were several programs happening in the
area and that was unusual for the month of November.
e.) Mrs. Basford-Kerkhof provided an update on some scams.
f.) Mrs. Wollerman announced the ADVOCAP meal program would start again in December
at the Oshkosh Seniors Center; Fall Risk program was going great.
g.) Ms. Richey thanked past member Ron Duerkop for his help at the Senior Expo, they
handed out several advanced directives; Next Tuesday was election and Linden Oaks
address were not showing up on City website as it is a new development, no drop box for
ballots, she stated the City Clerk’s office has been patient and helpful.
J.) ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Ford moved to adjourn at 8:58 am, Mrs. Maslowski seconded, ALL IN
FAVOR, Motion carried (9) to adjourn at 8:58 am.
