TO: Public Arts and Beautification Committee FROM: Alexa Naudziunas, Associate Planner DATE: September 21, 2022 SUBJECT: Meeting Notice and Agenda for September 2, 2022 The following items will be considered: 1. Call to Order Ms. Redlin called the meeting to order at 4:00pm. Ms. Gibbs, Ms. Hanson and Mr. Ponzer were not present. 2. Approval of August 25, 2022 Meeting Minutes Ms. Olson made a motion to approve the August 25, 2022 meeting minutes and Mr. Redlin seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Membership Updates Mr. Marquardt announced that because scheduling conflicts he has decided to resign from the committee. Thank you for your service Joshua! 4. Beautification District – Dennis Zach Mr. Zach presented his proposal to the committee members. This district would be for the area around the airport and EAA grounds. The committee express and interest in supporting this effort, but was cautious about their capacity as a project partner. The committee recommended that Mr. Zach reach out to the Convention and Visitors Bureau to see if they are interested in being a partner. Mr. Zach requests that we look into the process of making this area a beautification district. 5. UWO – Journalism Class Project Ms. Naudziunas explained that she was approached by university staff to be a partner for a journalism class. She agreed to serve as a project partner for the arts and beautification committee. The students will be working on telling the story of the committee and marketing our efforts. Mini Mural Project – South Side - Discussion The committee reviewed all of the artist submissions and narrowed it down the eight selections. The artists will be notified and the art will be installed as soon as possible. 7. Future Agenda Items Cultural Area in Lakeshore Park, Community Arts Forum, Mini Murals, Sawdust District arts, William Waters Sculpture, Fundraising. Please submit agenda items to Ms. Naudziunas. Ms. Meidl gave a brief update on BID activities including the newest mural in downtown Oshkosh. Greetings Tour mural is in the works, timeline is for May 2023. Public Arts Forum is planned for December 7th. 8. Adjournment Ms. Olson made a motion to adjourn and Ms. Christiansen seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously at 4: 44pm.
