HomeMy WebLinkAboutnewsletter TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Mark Rohloff, City Manager DATE: September 30, 2022 RE: Weekly Newsletter 1. AIRPORT ZONING UPDATE MEETING: The City of Oshkosh and Winnebago County will be hosting a public informational meeting to provide the public an opportunity to provide feedback on a proposed update to Wittman Regional Airport Zoning Code. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. at City Hall in Room 404. In 2019, the City of Oshkosh, in conjunction with the consulting firm Mead & Hunt, began reviewing the existing Wittman Regional Airport Zoning Ordinance. In particular, the City was interested in updating the Zoning Ordinance to provide additional flexibility in regards to the types of compatible land uses that are permitted in proximity to Wittman Regional Airport. The overall goal of the project is to maintain compatible land uses around the airport while allowing the City & County to more fully implement their land use plans in the airport and surrounding commercial areas. The City of Oshkosh & Winnebago County will be presenting an overview of the proposed update at the meeting and will gather feedback from participants. Meeting notices were mailed to property owners who are located in areas that may be affected by the proposed update. If you have any questions or concerns regarding please do not hesitate to contact the Mark Lyons, Planning Services Manager at (920) 236-5059. 2. FREE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AT THE OSHKOSH PUBLIC MUSEUM: People remember their loved ones who have passed in different ways; maybe it’s through keeping a photograph of them on their desk, or playing their favorite song, or placing flowers on their grave. For those who celebrate Día de los Muertos, constructing ofrendas (altars) help celebrate the legacies of family, friends, and ancestors. On the grounds of the Museum, visitors will be able to share in this traditional celebration by contributing to a community altar, making crafts, and watching performances by Ballet Folklorico Xanharati dancers and mariachi. This free event will be held at The Oshkosh Public Museum on October 29th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This event includes a free showing of Disney Pixar’s “Coco”. This family movie will be shown at the Time Community Theater; Spanish language matinee at 2pm, and an English language showing at 7pm. We encourage you to share this exciting event with your family, friends, and anyone who wants to join in the celebration! Information on how to contribute to the community altar will be shared in early October. Table opportunities for organizations providing services to the Spanish-speaking community are available at this event. Please reach out to Kate Stel, OPM Marketing Coordinator (920-236-5763) to reserve your table before October 17th. 3.
