THE SEASONAL GRIND: The Forestry division has begun work grinding the stumps left over from prior tree removals. Stump grinding will continue throughout the fall and into early winter, if conditions allow. The process of stump grinding includes the removal of the stump, hauling of debris generated, backfilling and grading with topsoil, and seeding with grass seed. There is an option to have a tree replanted if criteria for planting is met. Not all locations where trees were planted previously will meet the criteria. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact Travis Derks, Landscape Operations Manager, at (920) 236-5080. 4. EMERALD ASH BORER UPDATE: The City of Oshkosh has been hard at work this summer trying to keep up with the Emerald Ash Borer and its hunger for Ash trees. Over the course of the summer, Parks and Forestry Department staff took on the task of removing approximately 120 Ash trees located on the northern border of Akan Acres Park a/k/a North High Conservancy. Due to the weather staff has had to suspend their efforts at that location and redirect their work elsewhere, however once the ground firms up again they will be back to clean up all remaining trees and debris. If you have questions regarding EAB, please contact Travis Derks, Landscape Operations Manager, at (920) 236-5080. 5.
