closed to the public Tuesday, September 27 to allow for installation of their newest
travelling exhibition. Manufacturing Victory: The Arsenal of Democracy tells the
inspiring story of the Home Front effort that produced tanks, planes, ships, and guns
with staggering speed and unparalleled energy. This surge in productivity not only
brought the country out of depression, but also created mighty military forces, supplied
the Allies abroad, and opened new doors of opportunity and social change. Opening
October 1!
2. FALL CELEBRATIONS AT OSHKOSH PARKS: NEW for 2022 the Oshkosh Parks

event go to the Menominee Park Zoo to help fund zoo improvements and future events
held in the zoo.

3. THE SEASONAL GRIND: The Forestry division has begun work grinding the stumps
left over from prior tree removals. Stump grinding will continue throughout the fall and
into early winter, if conditions allow. The process of stump grinding includes the removal
of the stump, hauling of debris generated, backfilling and grading with topsoil, and
seeding with grass seed. There is an option to have a tree replanted if criteria for planting
is met. Not all locations where trees were planted previously will meet the criteria. If you
have questions regarding this process, please contact Travis Derks, Landscape
Operations Manager, at (920) 236-5080.
4. EMERALD ASH BORER UPDATE: The City of Oshkosh has been hard at work this
summer trying to keep up with the Emerald Ash Borer and its hunger for Ash trees. Over
the course of the summer, Parks and Forestry Department staff took on the task of
removing approximately 120 Ash trees located on the northern border of Akan Acres
Park a/k/a North High Conservancy. Due to the weather staff has had to suspend their
efforts at that location and redirect their work elsewhere, however once the ground firms
up again they will be back to clean up all remaining trees and debris. If you have
questions regarding EAB, please contact Travis Derks, Landscape Operations Manager,
at (920) 236-5080.
5. TIME OF YOUR LIFE: On Tuesday, October 4th, the Oshkosh Seniors Center is a co-
sponsor of the "Time of Your Life Expo" to be held at the Oshkosh Convention Center

addition to the exhibitors, there are free health screenings for blood pressure, hearing,
respiration, and other wellness tests. Walgreens will be holding a free flu shot clinic on
site as well.
Everyone is welcome to attend. It's an excellent opportunity for people with aging
parents to discover all the aging resources available in the area. Please stop by the
Oshkosh Seniors Center booth to find out how we can help you stay active, stay social,
