•Removes “multi-lane threat” condition for

•Allows for inclusion of bicycle accommodations
•Mainline operations expected to remain similar to

Proposed Safety Analysis
•Performed a predictive crash modeling analysis
•Results indicate overall crashes are expected to decrease by 16%
•Other safety benefits of road diets include:
•Left-turning vehicles removed from through lanes
•Easier through and turning movements from side roads
•Dedicated space for bicycles on S Main Street
•Reduced lanes for pedestrians crossing S Main Street

Conclusions
•Restripe S Main Street into a 3-lane roadway with TWLTL
•Add on-street bicycle lanes
•Provide exclusive left-turn lanes at 24th Ave
