Safety Report July 21, 2022 Existing Crash Analysis •58 crashes from 2016-2020 •39% angle crashes at intersections •24% rear-end crashes at intersections •37% of all crashes had injuries •Crash rate at S Main St & 24th Ave >1.0 S Main Street/Fond du Lac Rd/USH 45 Traffic Operations & Safety Report July 21, 2022 Existing Traffic Operations •Currently operating well under capacity limits •S Main Street operating at LOS A in 2022 and 2043 •All side streets operating at LOS C or better in 2022 and 2043 •No separate left-turn lanes for access points •Poor lane utilization S Main Street/Fond du Left-Turn Lane •Reduce through lanes from 2 to 1 in each direction •Provide separate left-turn lane for all access points •Reduce number of conflict points •Provide exclusive left-turn lanes at 24th safety benefits of road diets include: •Left-turning vehicles removed from through lanes •Easier through and turning movements from side roads •Dedicated space for bicycles on S Main Street •Reduced
