CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION Minutes April 13th 2022 PRESENT: Shirley Brabender Mattox, Steve Cummings, Gerald Jacklin, Paulette Feld, Sara Stichert, Andrew Smith, Nikki Stoll Olthoff ABSENT: Bill Miller, Kristopher Ulrich STAFF: Alexa Naudziunas, Associate Planner; Jon Urban, Joe Ferlo 1) Call to Order Ms. Brabender Mattox called the meeting to order at 3pm. 2) Approval of March 9th 2022 Meeting Minutes Mr. Jacklin made a motion to approve the March 9th 2022 minutes and Mr. Cummings seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3) Building Permit Review The commissioners discussed the historic building permits. 4) Opera House Updates – Jon Urban/Joe Ferlo Mr. Ferlo and Mr. Urban presented information on facility maintenance planned through 2026. 5) Historic Plaque Program – Application Review – 1641 Jackson Street The applicant was contacted via telephone. The commission reviewed the application materials and discussed the property with the applicant. The commission agreed to help the applicant collect more research to strengthen the application materials. 6) Acanthus Award Nominations Ms. Brabender-Mattox explained that the awards are presented in City Council for Historic Preservation Month in May. The following project were nominated and approved:  Waite Rug – from last year  Preservation activities – Oshkosh History Postcard Series 2021  Adaptive reuse – Gibson Building  Retention and Preservation - 907 Washington Avenue – Terry Laib  Retention and Preservation - 101 W 10th Avenue – Church 7) Commissioner Statements a. Shirley explained that there is an event, “Putting Tax Credits and Grants to Work”, coming up at the Oshkosh Public Museum on April 27th, 2022. b. Wisconsin Association of Historic Preservation Commission event on April 29th, 2022. c. The commission has a plaque presentation for 907 Washington Avenue on May 10th, 2022 at 3pm. Acanthus Awards 9) Adjournment Mr. Smith made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Feld seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously at 4:43 pm.
