1. TSA EXTENDS MASK MANDATE ON GO TRANSIT: The Transportation Security
Administration is extending the current mandate for mask use on public transportation,
including busses and in transportation hubs through April 18. GO Transit had planned
to open the heated shelter if/when the TSA mask mandate ended which was scheduled
to expire March 18th. However, since the TSA announced that the mask mandate has
been extended, staff will not re-open the shelter with the pending platform/transit center
rehabilitation starting on March 28th. The heated shelter will re-open when construction
of the project is complete. The timeline for completion is early fall, 2022. If you have any
questions, please contact Transportation Director, Jim Collins.
2. SPECIAL EXHIBITS AT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY: Special exhibits with local flair are
making a visit to the library even more enticing as we head into spring.
A collection of Oshkosh Corporation memorabilia is on display on the library’s
second floor through May 31. Tim Wright, known on Facebook as Mr. Oshkosh
“Historian and Aficionado of Oshkosh Trucks,” selected items from his extensive
collection to fill two display cases at the library. It’s a great way to experience the
history of one of Oshkosh’s most iconic brands. Many thanks to Tim for working
with Local History Librarian Michael McArthur to share these items with our
community. A front-page article in the March 8 issue of the Oshkosh Herald
highlights the display.
We are pleased to welcome the Helen Farnsworth Mears Art Contest Exhibit to the
library this month. Community members are invited to view the paintings,
drawings and sculpture of talented local middle school students, on display
through March 30 in the lower level. Many thanks to the General Federation of
Women's Clubs (GFWC), Oshkosh Women’s Arts Club for their work
coordinating the contest and exhibit, which this year marks the 150th birthday of
the accomplished Oshkosh sculptor for which they are named. More information
