RE: Reject Bid Community Development Contract 22-10 for William Waters Plaza
Gazebo Construction
BACKGROUND
In 2019, the River East Neighborhood Association proposed and received approval for the
implementation of the William Waters Plaza Master Plan as an approved Great Neighborhoods
project. City staff, along with the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, worked to secure
private donors to cover the anticipated construction costs of the project.
The City worked with MSA Professional Services, Inc. on the design, bid documents, and cost
estimates for the construction of a new gazebo as part of the ongoing renovations of William
Waters Plaza. Community Development staff worked with the Public Works staff and sought
bids for the construction of the gazebo.
ANALYSIS
A total of $293,000 was raised to cover the anticipated cost of construction. The City received
only one (1) bid for the project, totaling $404,800. Insufficient funding exists at this time to award
the bid.
RECOMMENDATION
The Common Council rejects the bid for Community Development contract 22-10 for William
Waters Plaza Gazebo Construction.
