HomeMy WebLinkAbout21. 21-487 SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 21-487 ORDINANCE FIRST READING (CARRIED______ LOST_______ LAID OVER_______ WITHDRAWN_______) PURPOSE: DESIGNATE BICYCLE LANES ON WEST 9TH AVENUE WEST OF OAKWOOD ROAD INITIATED BY: TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION: TRAFFIC AND PARKING ADVISORY BOARD - APPROVED A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH AMENDING SECTION 27A- 10.1 BICYCLE LANES DESIGNATED WHEREAS, pursuant to Council direction, bicycle lanes were incorporated into the reconstruction of W. 9th Avenue and it is therefore necessary to update the ordinance and signage for W. 9th Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 27A-10.1 pertaining to Bicycle Lanes Designated is hereby amended as follows: A-10.1 BICYCLE LANES DESIGNATED Add Thereto: W. 9th Avenue, from S. Oakwood Road to Linden Oaks Drive SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, publication and placement of the appropriate signage. SECTION 3. Publication Notice. Please take notice that the City of Oshkosh enacted ordinance #21-XXX on October 12, 2021, DESIGNATE BICYCLE LANES ON WEST 9TH AVENUE (A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH AMENDING SECTION 27A-10.1 BICYCLE LANES DESIGNATED). The ordinance designates bicycle lanes on W. 9th Avenue from S. Oakwood Road to Linden Oaks Drive. Box 1130 Oshkosh, WI 54903-1130 http://www.ci.oshkosh.wi.us TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jim Collins, Transportation Director DATE: September 24, 2022 RE: Designate Bike Lanes on West 9th Avenue BACKGROUND Per council direction, bike lanes were incorporated as part of the W. 9th Avenue layout. As the construction is being completed, we need to update the ordinance and signage. ANALYSIS This ordinance needs to be updated to match the new road layout. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact of these ordinances is the cost of striping and signage. These costs are part of the road reconstruction project budget. RECOMMENDATION I recommend that the Common Council approve these modifications to Section 27A-110.1 of the Municipal Code pertaining to bike lanes designated.
