RE: Cooperative Purchase of Vehicle Detection Camera Systems for the Jackson
Street Corridor Plan and the Murdock/Wisconsin intersection ($58,560.00)
BACKGROUND
The Common Council allocated funds in the annual CIP for traffic signal equipment. After the
implementation of the Jackson Street Corridor Plan it is imperative that we add vehicle detection
camera systems for the control of left turning traffic at both Jackson and New York and also at
Jackson and Irving. Additionally, the Electric Division must also replace failing vehicle
detection systems at the intersection of Murdock and Wisconsin.
ANALYSIS
Purchasing has confirmed that the three vehicle detection camera systems for these projects can
be procured under the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Contract #0510035. This
procurement will include three complete GRIDSMART traffic detection systems. Purchasing
has confirmed this purchase is pursuant to the cooperative purchase exception of our
purchasing ordinance.
FISCAL IMPACT
Under this cooperative contract the total fiscal impact for this equipment from GRIDSMART
was $58,560.00 and has been charged to A/N# 03230801-6542-61003 (Traffic Signal Material).
